The planner’s gem sizes are Small (150 power), Large (250), Splendid (350) and Flawless (500). Gem Fusion combines three gems of the same type and size into one of the next size at Cassian the Jeweler.

Three Small gems contribute 450 power across three sockets; one Large contributes 250 in one socket. Fusion concentrates power into a limited socket, so the correct comparison depends on your available slots and target color thresholds.
Check current costs in game
Do not budget from an old crafting screenshot. Update 0.5.1.0 reduced several crafting costs, including gem-related recipes. The calculator compares resulting power; it does not maintain your inventory or quote every current material cost.
