WoW Forever uses a realmless system organized around rulesets rather than a traditional realm choice. Blizzard lists Normal, PvP, and Roleplaying rulesets; Hardcore is planned after launch, not as a confirmed launch-day option.

Confirmed details
Rulesets are separate player ecosystems. Blizzard’s deep dive says players cannot group across different rulesets, and grouping remains same-faction. “Realmless” therefore does not mean every character can freely group with every other character.
Blizzard ↗How to use this
Agree on a ruleset and faction with friends before creating characters. Use the Forever calculator for Forever planning. Our Classic Hardcore calculator is for the existing Classic edition; its availability does not mean Forever Hardcore has already launched.
Important distinction
A roadmap promise is not a dated release announcement. This answer does not invent a Hardcore launch date or claim that old Classic realm names apply to Forever. Check Blizzard’s ruleset updates before making plans that depend on transfers or future Hardcore support.
